Here's a message from the Neighborhood:

With interest in the redevelopment of the high school, with a realization that Lewisburg’s multiple phone carriers make it difficult to find a neighbor’s phone number, and with concern that some of our neighbors live alone at a very advanced age, in spring 2015 the families between the Lewisburg Cemetery and the Lewisburg Area High School held a public meeting at the Borough Building and signed on to keep in touch.   The neighborhood is very distinct from the rest of the Borough, with many of the houses dating to the 1940s and its borders clearly contained.  It is bounded by the High School on the north, Route 15 on the west, the Lewisburg Cemetery on the south and Bull Run Neighborhood on the east.

childrens-museum-logoIn August 2016 we held a second annual picnic at which time we named ourselves "Old School Neighborhood." Erin Jablonski of the Lewisburg Area School District Board and the Lewisburg Children’s Museum presented plans to date on the sale and and proposals for reuse of the high school property. In response Old School Neighborhood has raised more than $1200 for the children’s museum entitling ourselves to a plaque as donors and enshrining our name for years.  We have just presented this amount to the museum committee.

At least eight homeowners are graduates of Lewisburg High, three houses are owned by the children of the original occupants and two houses are currently owned by the now-retired third generation of the families who built the homes in the 1940’s. How’s that for stability!  In addition we have welcomed eight new families to our neighborhood in the past year, including eight children, bringing delight to old eyes. As we welcome families who have lived in far-flung places, we are enriched by new perspectives.

Old School Neighborhood is a great place to live!
