The Bull Run Neighborhood Ice Cream Social at S 7th and St Catherine in the cemetery was a hit.

The final count isn't in yet, but there were well over 300 student residents who made an appearance.  They were greeted by representatives of the Bull Run Neighborhood and the larger community, including many long-term neighborhood residents, Borough Council, the Buffalo Valley Regional Police, the Keystone COG Codes Office, and the Elm Street Manager.  The year-round residents and officials were available to meet the students and talk in a constructive and positive environment, rather than having their first interactions be under conditions of stress.

Kudos to all the students who took the opportunity to have conversations with the town reps.  It was great to hear your questions about trash pick up and recycling (see the links on our home page which take you directly to the relevant parts of the Borough's website:  lewisburgborough.org).  It was also appreciated that some thought to ask the Code Officer about whether it would be ok to show a movie in their backyard, projected onto the side of the house (answer:  yes, but please remember to take the sheet/screen down promptly, and mind the content and noise levels).

Many were able to take advantage of some of the maps of the neighborhood that were on hand.  The office has just obtained digital files of all of that information, so keep your eye on this website (and our facebook and pinterest accounts) as we will start to load practical and interesting items like historic photos and flood maps.

Stay tuned for the neighborhood survey later this fall.

And in the meantime, remember to say hi, drive slow, and leave all porta-potties in the upright and locked position.
