celebate spin artStop by to join in raising awareness about water issues locally and globally.  There will be informational tables, live music, children's activities (FREE spin art, crafts, games, river trivia, give-aways, fire station tours), and free food.  You can find out about LNC initiatives like the River Town Team, public safety awareness, the tool library pilot, Bull Run Greenway planning, and more.  There will also be CommUnity Zone, Susquehanna Greenway Partnership, and Buffalo Valley Recreation Authority/Rail Trail tables.

celebrate fire trucksThis event is a joint project of Bucknell University Management 101 Company C, the William Cameron Engine Company, and the Lewisburg Neighborhoods Corporation.

There will be opportunities to sign up for the upcoming Lewisburg Riverbank clean ups on Sunday, April 6, from 1 to 4pm, and Sunday, April 13, from 11am to 2pm.  The clean up can occur even in overcast or light drizzle but will be postponed in the event of serious rain.  The rain date for the 6th will be Wednesday, April 9, from 4 to 6:30pm.  At each meeting time, please meet at the elevated area next to the St George St boat ramp to get your supplies and assignment.  Participants should wear boots, long pants, and long sleeves.  Avoid fleece or knits which catch burrs and thorns too readily.  Consider the weather and bring a water bottle to rinse hands and take on thirst.

These events are all a fantastic kickstart for the Lewisburg River Town Team initiative.  We can look forward to how to follow up with an in river clean up in the fall, more direct tie-ins to the river at other community events in the borough, and an assessment of what a regular River Town Block Party might look like in coming years.  This one promises to be bang up -- in spite of the weather.

Come test your river trivia knowledge.  How many sub-basins of the Susquehanna River watershed have you visited?
