Lewisburg has a long and storied history, some of it well-documented, some of it less present in daily life today. The Statewide Historic Preservation Conference took place here last week and gave us a chance to share some of our history with a Riverfront History Walking Tour -- the handout from which is featured below. But we have other things we can offer to the Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Office (PASHPO) -- our voices.
Here's a message from PASHPO:
The PASHPO administers all the federal and state historic preservation programs in the Commonwealth. At the federal level, the National Park Service facilitates many of the programs we administer. One of our responsibilities to the Park Service is to develop a statewide historic preservation plan every five years. The current plan expires in 2017 and we have begun the process of developing the next plan.
In order to ensure the plan is practical and implementable, we are striving to gather as much information and guidance from the public as possible. We’ll be hosting public forums and will partner with local groups, statewide organizations and other agencies to gather input from those sources. We have also developed a brief online survey to help us identify issues and understand the public’s vision.
Please take a few minutes to complete the survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PA_community_connections.

The previous plan got upwards of 2,000 responses and they would like to increase that response rate this year.
