RESCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 27!  Start time will be 7am; back in Lewisburg by noon.

Walk It! Bike It! Lewisburg made arrangements for their first fundraising ride "To the West End and Beyond!" back in July, hoping to do it on Independence Day.  But the weather forecast was dire and so the event was called off and instead just a skeleton crew rode out when the weather wound up being clear.  But we continue to harbor fond hopes of doing this ride.  Here's the plan:  We'll start at the Susquehanna River (at Lewisburg Landing), ride through town, follow the Buffalo Valley Rail Trail, cross Rt 45, and continue on to Swengel Rd, Creek Rd, etc out to the Cherry Run Trail.  In high summer, we'd been hoping even to get a chance to tube from tunnel end to tunnel end or at least take a dip before heading back to the trailhead outside Weikert.  In late October, we'll more likely just look at the stream!

Distance of ride is 34 miles. It will be supported, meaning that Earl's will be tagging along with a van in case anyone needs a repair or a rescue. Cost is $75 per person, with shuttle and catered lunch included.

The plan is to do it at a very moderate pace (~10 miles/hour). The route has fairly little elevation change, but is overall uphill and does have a couple more challenging hill-lets near the end. Participants should be in shape, but don't need to own any spandex. If you can ride a round trip on the BVRT and still have plenty of energy, this may be a good next step for you.  And of course those who are in the habit of riding centuries are also welcome to join in for this more leisurely outing.  Children 14 and over may participate if they are accompanied by a responsible (riding) adult.  The price is the same for everyone.
