The Green Team is a casual group of energetic people who want to:
• Meet and talk with their neighbors
• Do light work in a local park on Thursday evenings
• Help beautify the parks in Lewisburg
Join the community work party Thursday evenings at 7pm!!
We meet from late March to early October. Tree planting marked our kickoff this spring. Meetings are every Thursday, at 7pm at the riverside park by the St George St boat ramp, aka Lewisburg Landing. Bring gloves and clippers if you have them. Loaners are also available.
While this activity is happening weekly and we would like to have ongoing participation from the community, there is no obligation to attend every week. Please take part when you're able. We are focusing on removal of Japanese Knotweed, an invasive species which is crowding out new growth of canopy trees and native species of undergrowth. In addition, we'll be doing various other conservation activities beyond the regular maintenance scope of the Borough Crew. This could include litter pick up, plant care, maintenance within the no mow buffer, etc.

If you're an overachieving community gardener, you may also be part of either the plot renters at the Lewisburg Community Garden at the corner of North Water and St Anthony St or a helper during volunteer work days there (Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 7pm) for the Community Harvest dinner in Milton.
In addition, you may have a soft place in your heart for Mariah's Garden at the river end of St Catherine Street. We've posted some weeds to look out for (and possibly pull) this summer on our photo gallery linked above. We have been gradually assessing and making plans for that public space and in 2021 you'll notice some really big changes happening. In the meantime, maybe stow some work gloves in your bag in case you happen by and want to tackle some Mile-a-Minute there if you're passing by (see wanted poster to right).
