Raise the Region!
Thanks so much to everyone who contributed to Lewisburg Neighborhoods during Raise the Region this year.  We exceeded our goal for the drive which was to raise $1000.  Our raw total was $1315, which will both drop because of online fees and rise because of prizes and sponsor match.  We made the list of organizations that succeeded in cashing in on the Minute Match as well.  It is quite likely our final total will be over $1500!  We also wanted to bring in 10 new donors.  We had a total of 28 donors, almost half of whom were new!  You…

You all did an amazing job.  The entire Raise the Region event brought in/out $1.3M for nonprofits in our communities.

What is Raise the Region?  That's your opportunity to support all your favorite local non-profits.  There are various incentives that may help stretch your donations as well.  It's up to you to visit the RaisetheRegion.org website and search for all your favorite organizations, check out the LN-specific landing page on Raise the Region to donate to Lewisburg Neighborhoods!  The catch is that the program only runs for 30 hours once a year in the middle of March.  Stay tuned for 2021!  So mark your calendars and plan your next giving blitz for next spring.

If you simply can't manage to work that timeframe into your giving schedule this year, please remember you can donate to us any time through paypal or by mailing us a check (P.O. Box 298, Lewisburg).

Your individual donations demonstrate to our other funding sources that there is public interest and appreciation for the programs, activities, and events we run.  They help us make the case for receiving additional funding throughout the year in order to ensure our continued operation.  This is how you make sure there's another River Road Holiday this year!

Lewisburg Neighborhoods started taking part in the Raise the Region giving event in 2016.  We raised just under $1000 in each of the first three years and just over $1000 in 2019.  We hope to continue that steady trend of growth.  Use your contribution to signal appreciation for our work:

  • Neighborhood and Greenway/Public Space planning done in the Bull Run Neighborhood since our founding 13 years ago...
  • The Borough Flood Impact Task Force which has brought you unique analysis and insight into the National Flood Insurance Program...
  • The Lewisburg River Town Team and its various planning, conservation, events, and improvement projects...
  • The efforts of Walk It! Bike It! Lewisburg to improve and encourage walking and biking in the area...

With your help, we will continue to work on neighborhood revitalization projects that improve quality of life and strengthen the walkable, historic core community -- and by extension the larger region.

The way Raise the Region works is that it calls on the people of the Central Susquehanna Valley to consider the myriad of valuable and productive organizations working to address community needs and enhance quality of life and show their support in a coordinated effort.  So you hear about Raise the Region from many different organizations who are participating, as well as from the First Community Foundation of Pennsylvania (FCFP) itself.  All of that means a much higher profile for the fundraising opportunity than any of the small participants could muster alone.  We are all working to make sure you know about this way you can support us and our partner organizations like the Lewisburg Downtown Partnership and the Susquehanna Greenway Partnership.  And many other community-inspired groups:  like the Campus Theatre, RiverStage Community Theatre, Union County Historical Society, the Donald Heiter Community Center, the Lewisburg Children's Museum, the Middle Susquehanna Riverkeeper, the Rivertown Coalition for Clean Air and Clean Water, and the Linn Conservancy.

In addition to enhancing the reach of publicity, Raise the Region brings some matching funds into play thanks to its major sponsor Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships, and also incentivizes giving by providing prizes for various achievements like the greatest number of individual donations, first non-profit with 50 gifts, etc.  These will be listed on the website starting on March 2.  It can be fun to try to get in on some of those opportunities, but we've found that for the ones based on timing, you have to be fast -- like lightning in fact!

Thanks again for any votes and dollars of confidence you send our way.  We depend on you!
