Call for Applications for Lewisburg Poet Laureate
Lewisburg Neighborhoods, in collaboration with community partners, is seeking a Lewisburg Poet Laureate.
The Lewisburg Poet Laureate will be responsible for championing the art of poetry and the spoken word in Lewisburg. They will give public readings of their poetry, attend local literary and cultural events, and work to inspire the next generation of poets and readers. They will receive a stipend for this work.

Duties
- champion the art of poetry and the spoken word in Lewisburg in person and on social media
- encourage appreciation of the art form and creative expression with a wide range of residents in Lewisburg
- inspire the next generation of poets and their readers in Lewisburg
- celebrate the state’s poets and authors,past and present
- attend local literary and other cultural events
- give 4 public readings each year in Lewisburg in coordination with Lewisburg Neighborhoods and community partners (Mondragon Bookshop, The Community Zone, the Woolly Worm Festival, Stroll Through the Arts)
Requirements/Qualifications
- poet must live in Lewisburg or adjacent townships and continue to live there throughout the appointment
- poet must have some publication history (for example, literary magazines, journals, etc.)
- poet must have demonstrated a previous commitment to promoting awareness of poetry and/or participating in the local arts community
- poet must be 18 years of age and older
Application
- Name, contact information, and address
- resume or vita (no longer than 3 pages) that lists publication credits, awards, recent poetry readings or activity
- a work sample of 10 poems not to exceed 20 pages (in 12-point font, with 1" margins)
- a cover letter that answer the question: What would you hope to accomplish as Lewisburg Poet Laureate? (Please keep your answer to 500 words.)
